ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team plays the first of eight home Conference USA games on Wednesday, Jan. 17 and the Golden Knights' home league schedule features several ticket promotions and exciting fan contests. UCF hosts SMU on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
The contest against SMU will feature the first "Get Coke Cash Crazy" in-game promotion. At halftime, one fan will be selected to participate in a shooting contest and have a shot at winning $10,000. The promotion is sponsored by Coca-Cola and will also take place during the team's games against Memphis (Jan. 31), Marshall (Feb. 10) and East Carolina (March 3).
The Golden Knights play three games on Saturday and each contest will feature the new Weekend Night Out ticket deal. Two general admission tickets, two soft drinks, two hot dogs and one popcorn can be purchased for only $20.
At five home games, the UCF Student Government Association will select a student who exhibits the most school spirit as its Fan of the Game. The student will receive a $250 scholarship. The SGA Fan of the Game contest will occur at the SMU, Memphis, Marshall, Houston and East Carolina games.
The Golden Knights are 12-4 overall and 1-1 in C-USA action in 2006-07.
"Our men's team is having a great start to the season and we wanted to add a few new and different promotions to ensure that we have a great environment when our team takes the court at the UCF Arena for conference play," said UCF Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Jason Horn. "Coke and SGA have really stepped up and provided some great contest prizes for fans to win. We hope that we can attract some new and old fans as we make a run for the C-USA title."
One in-game contest winner at each of the next four home games will be registered to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to the 2007 Conference USA Men's Basketball Championship in Memphis, Tenn. The package includes two round-trip airline tickets to Memphis, hotel accommodations for three nights and two all-session tickets to the tournament.
Several giveaways highlight the schedule. The first 500 fans at the Marshall game on Feb. 10 will receive a poster autographed by the 2006-07 Golden Knights. Mini basketballs will be distributed prior to the March 3 tilt with East Carolina.
The C-USA opener with SMU is UCF faculty and staff night. All UCF employees can show their school IDs and get into the game for $4. On Jan. 20, all kids wearing a basketball jersey to the Rice game can purchase tickets for $4. Fans who attend the UCF-Southern Miss women's basketball game that afternoon can bring their ticket stub and get into the men's game for $4.
Fans are encouraged to wear black to the support the Golden Knights when they host Memphis on Jan. 31. The game, which is sponsored by Classic & Holler, is being dubbed Knight Madness.
Youngsters who attended the Kirk Speraw Basketball Camp this past summer are invited to attend the Feb. 2 game versus Tulsa for free. The Feb. 21 contest against Southern Miss is "Take a Kid to the Game Day." Kids are admitted for free with a paid adult admission.
"Can the Cougars Night" is set for Feb. 28 when UCF hosts Houston. Fans who bring a canned good, which will be donated to a local homeless shelter, may purchase general admission tickets for $4.
