Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Even though final exams were looming ahead, several members of the UCF rowing team volunteered their time Dec. 3 to assist in putting together care packages for United States troops stationed in Iraq. The student-athletes were able to create close to 40 packages, loaded with unscented soaps, snacks, music and plenty of other items that will be delivered to Baghdad between Christmas and New Year's Day.

"I was truly impressed by the team's efforts and generosity towards the soldiers in Iraq," said UCF assistant coach Kim Cupini. "Many of them donated several items and took time out of final exam week to get the packages sent off in time."

The care packages will be going to the 10th Mountain Division of the Army, as sophomore Tara Rogers (Longwood, Fla./Lake Brantley) helped organize the event with Major Frank Bridges. They will be sent in memory of Roger's cousin, Specialist Nicholas Keith Rogers.
