O'Donnell Earns All-Tournament Honors at San Juan Shootout

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (www.ucfathletics.com) - After helping UCF to an impressive third-place showing at the San Juan Shootout, junior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo) was named to the all-tournament team. He averaged 11.7 points in three contests at the eight-team event.

The Golden Knights, who are 8-2 on the season, won two games in a pair of days in Puerto Rico. In the squad's 73-66 victory in the third-place game over Tennessee Tech on Thursday, O'Donnell connected on three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. He shot 63.2 percent in three tournament contests.

Appalachian State, the team that handed UCF its only loss at the tournament, won the championship with an 87-79 overtime victory over Vanderbilt. The Moutaineers' D.J. Thompson and Donte Minter shared tournament MVP honors.

The Golden Knights will return to action on Dec. 29 when they host New Jersey Tech in the opening round of the UCF Holiday Classic. Tip-off at the UCF Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. James Madison and Texas-Pan Am are also participating in the event.
