Golden Knights Receiving Votes in AP Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - One of only nine undefeated teams in the country, the UCF men's basketball team is receiving votes in the current Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Golden Knights (6-0) are receiving three votes in the poll, which was released on Monday.

UCF faces host Minnesota on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. Eastern. The contest will serve as the team's first road tilt of the year.

Head coach Kirk Speraw's squad is off to its best start since the 1979-80 season. In the latest NCAA statistical rankings, the Golden Knights are in the top 50 in 10 categories and are listed in the top 30 in eight areas.

The team is second in rebound margin (+14.5) and ninth in assists per game, averaging 18.8. UCF has beaten its six opponents by an average of 25.7 points, the fourth-best mark in the country.

UCF is shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range, good for sixth and 11th, respectively. The Golden Knights are averaging 84 points, which ranks 15th and are connecting on 8.2 triples each contest, good for 45th in the rankings.

Opponents are shooting just 35.4 percent, the eighth-lowest mark nationally, against UCF. The Golden Knights are limiting their foes to 58.3 points per game and are registering 9.2 steals per game. Those marks rank 29th and 42nd, respectively.

Sophomore guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) is UCF's leading scorer at 17.5 points per game and is among the national leaders in three statistical categories.

The reserve is eighth in 3-point field-goal percentage (54.8), 42nd in field-goal percentage (60.3) and ranks 68th in the nation, averaging 2.8 treys per contest.
