UCF's Pauls Selected as Row Ontario's Athlete of the Year

Oct. 27, 2006

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Thanks to some impressive performances during the summer months, UCF junior Caitlin Pauls (St. Catherine's, Ont.) recently was named Row Ontario's Athlete of the Year for 2006. At the Ontario Provincial Championship, Pauls earned victories in the Under-23 Heavy Single, the Under-23 Heavy Double and the Under-23 Heavy Quad, the latter two with her sister and fellow teammate at UCF, Stephanie.

Pauls also finished in the top five at the Crash-B World Indoor Rowing Championships in February. Last year for the Golden Knights, she was the stroke of the varsity eight, which was ranked No. 19 in the country and second in the south region.

The UCF rowing team gets its fall schedule started Saturday with a journey to Stetson's Hatter Classic. The regatta will be a good test for the Golden Knights' novice squad to compete for the first time at the collegiate level.
