Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Prior to opening the 2006-07 regular season, the UCF men's basketball team will play one exhibition game at the UCF Arena on Thursday, Nov. 9 against St. Leo. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. Admission to the contest is free.
The Golden Knights will make their regular-season debut on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at home against cross-town opponent Rollins. Entering its second campaign in Conference USA, UCF will play 16 contests in Orlando this year, including eight in league play. The 2006-07 season will serve as the program's final campaign at the UCF Arena as the Golden Knights will move into the new Convocation Center in the fall of 2007.
UCF finished fifth in C-USA with a 14-15 overall and 7-7 league mark a year ago. In the last four years, head coach Kirk Speraw's squad has won 84 games, a mark that ranks 39th nationally and second among all programs in the state of Florida. The Golden Knights have played in two of the last three NCAA Tournaments.
