UCF Hires Evans as Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance

ORLANDO - The UCF Athletics Association, Inc. announced on the hiring of Jonathan Evans as assistant director of athletics compliance on Wednesday. Evans appointment is effective immediately.

"I am very happy to have Jonathan join our staff," said Director of Compliance Aimee Carpenter. "His experiences in compliance and his perspective as a former coach and administrator will be an asset to our office. I am really looking forward to working with him."

Prior to joining the Golden Knights' staff, Evans spent over a decade at Florida A&M, serving the athletics department in various capacities. He started his career there as a graduate assistant for men's basketball in 1993. He also served as the head golf coach from the spring of 1994 through 2001, guiding the Rattlers to the National Minority Golf Championship in 2000.

In 1996, Evans became the assistant athletic director for compliance and added duties as athletic facilities coordinator. In this new role, he oversaw all aspects of the FAMU's compliance program and supervised the male Olympic sports. His title was changed to assistant athletic director for compliance and academic affairs in September of 2000 when he also began to oversee the Athletic Academic Learning Center.

Evans left Florida A&M in March of 2005. He has since taught American history and served as coach of the softball team at Jinks Middle School in Panama City, Florida.

Evans holds a bachelor's of science degree in social studies education from West Virginia and a master's of science degree in counseling education from Florida A&M.
