IRVING, Texas - Conference USA announced its 2006-07 men's basketball television schedule on Tuesday and for the second-consecutive season UCF will have two regular season games televised nationally on CSTV. The Golden Knights' contest at UTEP on Jan. 27 and the squad's home game versus Southern Miss on Feb. 21 will both air live on the network.
UCF is entering its second season in C-USA. A year ago, CSTV broadcast a pair of UCF contests during the regular season, including a game in Orlando against UAB. The tilt with the Blazers served as the first nationally-televised home regular season game in program history.
"Having CSTV broadcast two of our regular season games to a national audience gives us the opportunity to showcase our program," said UCF head coach Kirk Speraw. "As a result of joining C-USA, we have been able to increase our television exposure and we are excited that our fans will have a chance to follow us on the road when we face UTEP. The Southern Miss game at home will allow us to highlight the university and all of the growth on campus, including the Convocation Center."
UCF's Jan. 27 game against UTEP will start at 4 p.m. Eastern. Tip-off for the Southern Miss contest on Feb. 21 at UCF Arena is slated for 8 p.m.
CSTV will air 19 regular season C-USA games to a national television audience. The network will also carry early rounds of the 2007 C-USA Men's Basketball Championship presented by Aeropostale from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. On March 10, CBS will again air the league championship game.
UCF opens the regular season on Nov. 15 at home against cross-town foe Rollins. UCF will play 16 contests at the UCF Arena, including eight in league play. This year will mark the program's final campaign at the UCF Arena as the Golden Knights will move into the new Convocation Center in the fall of 2007.
A year ago UCF went 14-15 overall and 7-7 in C-USA to finish fifth in the league. Dating back to the start of the 2002-03 campaign, head coach Kirk Speraw's team has won 84 games, a mark that ranks 39th nationally and second among all programs in the state of Florida. The Golden Knights have played in two of the last three NCAA Tournaments.
