Sept. 9, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF men's soccer team is focused upon winning its second consecutive match when the Golden Knights play host to Wright State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The Golden Knights (1-4-0) hope to capitalize on the momentum they gained after earning a 2-0 shutout victory over North Florida on Thursday night. UCF dominated the Ospreys with a 19-9 advantage in shots and a 6-3 favor in corner kicks. Sophomore Jake Howard (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins HS) and junior Rafael Teixeira (Coconut Creek, Fla./Taravella HS) each scored goals and sophomore Marcus Rein (Scotts Valley, Calif./Edison Academic Center) made three saves to record his first collegiate shutout.

Wright State (3-2-0) began its weekend swing through the Florida at Jacksonville, where they defeated the Dolphins, 3-2. Freshman Braden Fleak leads the Raiders' offense with five goals, while junior Tebias Mason has played all five matches in goal and boasts a 1.40 goals-against-average.

In two previous meetings, the Golden Knights and Raiders are even at 1-1. UCF won the most recent match-up by a score of 2-1 on Nov. 5, 1989.
