Women's Soccer Visits No. 2 Florida State For Televised Match

Sept. 12, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF women's soccer team faces one of its toughest challenges of the season when it visits No. 2 Florida State on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match is scheduled to be broadcast live on Sun Sports.

The Golden Knights bring a 3-2-1 record to Tallahassee after splitting a pair of matches at the UNLV Invitational last weekend. UCF beat the host Rebels, 3-2, behind two goals from senior Roberta Pelarigo then dropped a 2-0 decision to Arizona State.

Topping the UCF stat sheet is sophomore Hanna Wilde (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake HS), who has registered two goals - both game-winners - and also added an assist for seven points. Junior Jennifer Manis (Pensacola, Fla./Washington HS) has played all six matches in goal for the Black & Gold and has a 1.12 goals-against-average.

The Seminoles enter the game with a perfect 4-0-0 mark. After opening the season with a 2-1 win over top-ranked Portland, they also defeated Arizona State (1-0 in overtime), Loyola (3-1) and most recently, No. 24 Florida (1-0). Junior Selin Kuralay is the only FSU player with more than one goal as she has scored three. On the other end of the field, senior Ali Mims boasts a 0.50 GAA.

UCF and FSU have met seven times previously with the Seminoles owning a 5-2 series advantage. They also own the one-game winning streak after a 2-1 win in Orlando during the 2005 season, but the Golden Knights took a 3-2 victory in Tallahassee in 2004.

Wednesday's game is the first of two UCF women's soccer matches to be broadcast on television this year. The UCF vs. SMU contest on Oct. 27 is set to air tape-delayed on Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. on CSTV.
