ORLANDO- The UCF women's soccer team shutout Florida Atlantic, 2-0, on goals by sophomore Hanna Wilde and freshman Brianna Schooley on Friday at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Golden Knights improved to 2-1, while the Owls fell to 0-2-1.

Both teams pressured the ball in the first half, but the Golden Knights capitalized first. In the 39th minute, Wilde corralled a serve from senior Shannon Wing and sent the shot into the upper right corner of the net for her second goal in as many matches.

With less than three minutes remaining in the match, Schooley scored her first collegiate tally off a direct kick from the top right corner of the box to insure the Golden Knights' victory.

Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Manis made two saves to record her first shutout of the year and the second of her UCF career. Sophomore Jessica Badders made one save as she took the loss for the Owls, while senior Megan Coyne stopped five shots after replacing Badders at the start of the second half.

Finishing the first half with a 5-3 advantage in shots, UCF owned a 16-7 margin on the shot clock at the end of the night. FAU held a 2-1 advantage in cornerkicks.

"It was a good win against a tough in-state team," said UCF head coach Amanda Cromwell. "A lot of players stepped up and Manis was huge for us in goal. I thought we had good possession and controlled the majority of play. We're also starting to show our fitness level with a good number of players seeing the full 90 minutes."

The Golden Knights return to action on Sunday when they host Fresno State for a noon kickoff.
