ORLANDO- The UCF women's soccer team (1-1-0) returns to the UCF Soccer Complex for its regular-season home debut against in-state rival Florida Atlantic on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Golden Knights then host Fresno State on Sunday for a noon kickoff.
UCF split against Miami and Florida International last weekend. Despite outplaying the Hurricanes, the Golden Knights dropped a 2-0 decision in their season opener on Friday before regrouping for a 3-1 win over the Golden Panthers on Sunday.
Junior defender Jessica Hallgren scored two goals in the win, while sophomore midfielder Hanna Wilde added a goal and an assist. Junior Jennifer Manis played both matches in goal, emerging with a 1.50 goals-against-average.
The Owls bring a 0-1-1 record to Orlando after losing to the College of Charleston (1-0) and tying No. 25 Virginia Commonwealth (1-1) last weekend.
UCF owns a 15-5-1 series record against FAU. The Golden Knights are currently ranked No. 10 in the SoccerBuzz.com Southeast Region Poll, while the Owls sit at No. 11.
Meanwhile, UCF faces Fresno State (2-0) on Sunday for the first time. Picked to finish atop the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in the preseason poll, the Bulldogs started off the season with wins over San Francisco (2-0) and Cal State Northridge (1-0).
