MIAMI - A pair of goals from junior Jessica Hallgren sparked UCF (1-1) to a 3-1 win over Florida International (0-2) in women's soccer action at University Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Knights went up early as Hallgren connected off a free kick from freshman Becca Thomas in the 27th minute. The lead held until the 59th minute when FIU freshman Marina Pappas flicked in the ball off sophomore Francesca Chong's free kick.

Sophomore Hanna Wilde put UCF back on top in the 62nd minute with an unassisted tally. She then sent a cross to Hallgren, who found the back of the net for her second goal of the day five minutes later.

The Golden Knights dominated the match, outshooting the Golden Panthers by a 22-11 margin and earning a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. UCF junior goalkeeper Jennifer Manis made four saves in the win, while FIU's Madeline Gannon had nine.

"The difference between today and Friday's game against Miami was that we were doing whatever we needed to do to get the ball in the back of the net and finding different ways to score," said UCF head coach Amanda Cromwell. "Our defense was more organized and we really showcased our depth because every one played and contributed in different ways. It was a good team win."

The Golden Knights return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. for their home opener against Florida Atlantic at the UCF Soccer Complex.
