UCF Lightweight Rowers had Strong Showing at Rollins Tri-Meet

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The UCF women's lightweight rowing squad had a strong showing at the Rollins Tri-Meet Regatta against Rollins, Georgia, Stetson and Jacksonville Saturday on Lake Maitland.

"The lightweights put together a good race against openweight squads today," UCF lightweight coach Corrie McGrath said. "We are looking to continue the success as we travel to the northeast in April."

The varsity lightweight eight won its race with a time of 6:41.0 over Jacksonville and Georgia. Racing for UCF were coxswain Anne Marie Rossi, stroke Laura Brad, Lauren Schueler, Lauren Rice, Laura Bacci, Erin Riegel, Megan Mitchell, Katie Fulton and bow Pamela Wall.

The Golden Knights finished less than a second behind Rollins in the varsity four race. Rowing for UCF were coxswain Rossi, stroke Bacci, Brad, Wall and bow Rice.

The lightweights return to Lake Maitland next weekend to participate in the Spring Break Race.
