LAKE BEUNA VISTA, Fla. - Senior Tiffany Roebuck shattered her previous school record and surpassed the NCAA Regional qualification standard in the hammer throw as the UCF women's track and field team competed in day one of the Disney Relays on Friday afternoon.
Roebuck, who held the previous record with a mark of 185-feet, 10-inches, posted a throw of 192-3 (58.61 meters) en route to a first place finish in the hammer throw and a Golden Knights' sweep of the event. Senior Rian Thomas took second at 160-11 (49.04m) and sophomore Kendra Howell was third at 131-4 (40.04m).
Paced by senior Kylene Colasanti, UCF athletes also captured the top four spots in the 400-meter hurdles. Colasanti recorded a time of 65.53 followed by freshmen Natalie Braddock at 66.65 and Michelle Ranc at 68.44. Their classmate Shaneeva Patterson placed fourth with a time of 69.41.
Elsewhere, UCF recordholder and current student assistant coach Ann-Louise Larsen posted a mark of 5-11.75 (1.82m) in the high jump. She is only a centimeter away from qualifying for outdoor nationals.
The Golden Knights continue competition at the Disney Relays on Saturday.
