DELAND, Fla. - Kacie Feaster went 3-for-8 at the plate with two runs, two RBI and a double as UCF defeated Ohio State, 2-1, and Stetson, 3-1, at the Stetson Tournament in DeLand, Fla. Saturday afternoon. The Golden Knights improved to 5-3 on the season, while the Buckeyes fell to 4-2 and the Hatters fell to 3-1.

"Our players came out focused today!" said head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie. "Allison (Kime) showed excellent poise, picking up a huge win over a Big Ten team and Lexi (Gresham) gets her first Division I win against the Hatters. We also had a great defensive game led by Amber (Lamb) at shortstop and our offense was sparked by Kacie with key hits along with a clutch bunt by Cat (Snapp)."

Allison Kime picked up the win against Ohio State and Lexi Gresham earned the win against Stetson. Cici Alvarez also scored two runs for the Golden Knights, while Breanne Javier had two RBI.

Game One:
Ohio State threatened to score in the bottom of the first Chelsea Baker ripped a triple into right center, but the Buckeyes were unable to plate the run.

In the bottom of the third, Ohio State added another hit to the scoreboard on a Liz Caputo double to left center. Caputo advanced to third on a wild pitch but was unable to score.

The Golden Knights picked their first hit of the game when Feaster singled to left field. Two fielder's choices later, bases were full of Golden Knights. UCF ended the inning with no runs on one hit, no errors and three left on base.

In the top of the eighth, the Golden Knights started with Jennifer Tomasetti on second as the tie breaker rules went into effect. Cat Snapp laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt, advancing Tomasetti to third.

On a misplayed ball by the shortstop, Tomasetti scored and Alvarez was safe at first. Alvarez then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Feaster singled to left field, scoring Alvarez from third and giving UCF a 2-0 lead.

In Ohio State's half of the eighth, the Buckeyes were only able to get one of the runs back to make the final score UCF 2, Ohio State 1.

Kime was credited with the win after giving up one run on six hits with no errors, while Kim Reeder was tagged with the loss on two runs with four hits and two errors.

Game Two:
The Golden Knights scored one run in the top of the first when Feaster reached on an error and then scored on a Javier single to right field.

The Hatters evened the score at one apiece in the bottom of the third on two hits and one error.

Feaster hit an RBI double into left field scoring Alvarez from second in the fifth inning. Amber Lamb then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Feaster to third followed by an RBI ground out by Javier.

UCF won the second game, 3-1, with Gresham earning the win in the circle after giving up the one run on four hits and two errors. Heather Colding was pegged with the loss, pitching 4.2 innings and giving up two runs on three hits.

The Golden Knights return to DeLand Sunday to play Stetson and Ohio State again. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
