Alumni Team Captures 16-15 Victory

Feb. 12, 2006

ORLANDO - Scott Loubier drilled a three-run home run and Scott McClellan had three hits to lead the UCF alumni to a 16-15 victory over the 2006 Golden Knights in Sunday's Alumni Game at Jay Bergman Field. The game featured former greats of the UCF program vs. today's team.

The only change in the format was that each team hit vs. its own pitchers. Tim Bascom started for UCF and pitched vs. the current Golden Knights while Brian Ahern earned the start for the alumni.

Loubier led off the second inning with a double and later scored on a wild pitch to give the alumni team a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Knights scored four runs on five hits in the home half of the second, including a two-run triple by Matt Ray and RBI-singles by Tyson Auer and Matt Horwath.

The alumni team exploded for six runs in the third, including a three-run home run by Loubier to give the former Golden Knights a 7-4 lead. Loubier admired his long home run coming out of the batter's box to the delight of the crowd at Jay Bergman Field.

Back-to-back RBI-singles by Chadd Hartman and Eric Kallstrom in the third closed the deficit to 7-6.

The alumni team scored four runs off Todd Affricano in the fourth to lead 11-6 after 3.5 innings.

Kiko Vazquez lined a RBI-single into left field in the fourth to close the gap to 11-7.

The alumni team scored two additional runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 13-7.

The alumni team kept its scoring ways going in the sixth with three runs off reliever Tim Riegert to go in front 16-7.

The Golden Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, including a RBI-double by Vazquez, to cut the deficit to 16-10. The double was the second of the day for Vazquez.

UCF scored five runs in the eighth, including a three-run home run by Dave Lambert, to close the alumni team's lead to 16-15.

UCF reliever Mitch Houck pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning vs. his teammates to close out the win for the alumni.
