Tulane at UCF Game Notes
October 21, 2005
Florida Citrus Bowl
Orlando, Fla.

Team Notes
For the first time since 1992, UCF had two players rush for 100 yards in the same game. True freshman TB Kevin Smith totaled 18 carries for 113 yards while junior TB Jason Peters ran for 110 yards on nine carries. The last time UCF had two rushers over 100 yards was Sept. 5, 1992 vs. Gardner-Webb when Richard Blake ran for 189 yards on 18 carries and Gerod Davis accumulated 151 yards on 18 attempts.

UCF rushed for 286 yards as a team, the third-highest total in the school's Division I-A history. In 1999, UCF set a school Division I-A record with 323 rushing yards at Middle Tennessee. (298 vs. Buffalo in 2003 is second-best)

UCF played its sixth game in school history on a Friday. The Golden Knights are 3-3 all-time on Fridays.

With Frisner Nelson's first quarter interception, UCF has at least one interception in five consecutive games.

UCF has 10 interceptions on the season, while its opponents have just four. UCF's 10 interceptions have come in the last five games, including two in the first half against Tulane.

A week after committing five turnovers in the first half at Southern Miss, UCF did not commit a turnover in the first 30 minutes of play vs. Tulane while forcing three Green Wave turnovers.

UCF exploded for a season-high 27 points and 307 yards of total offense in the first half. Both marks were team-highs for the Golden Knights during the George O'Leary era.

Player Notes
Senior DT Frisner Nelson recorded his first career interception to setup UCF's first offensive drive of the game at the Tulane 19-yard line. It was the first interception of the season by a UCF defensive lineman.

Kevin Smith scored UCF's first touchdown of the game on a nine-yard run. Smith accounted for 49 of UCF's 56 yards on the touchdown drive, including a career-long 33-yard run.

Junior QB Steven Moffett was 7-of-8 passing for 73 yards in the first quarter. In 2005, Moffett is 32-of-43 in the first quarter, passing for 504 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He has completed 74.4 % of his passes in the first 15 minutes of play on the year.

Moffett has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 10 consecutive games. He finished the game 17 for 29 for 190 yards and one touchdown.

Jason Peters scored his first career touchdown on a 50-yard run - the longest rush for a Golden Knight in 2005 - in the second quarter. The last UCF player with a 50-yard touchdown run was Steven Moffett in 2003 vs. Marshall, when he scored on a 55-yard touchdown run. Peters tallied his first career 100-yard game with 110 yards on only nine attempts.

Smith hit the century mark for the third time this season and the second time in Conference USA action. He also threw his first career touchdown pass on a 12-yard scoring play to Darcy Johnson.

Junior MLB Ronnell Sandy made a spectacular interception in the end zone to prevent a Tulane touchdown. Freshman CB Joe Burnett deflected the pass into Sandy's hands for his first career interception.

Junior WR Mike Walker caught a touchdown pass in the third consecutive game to extend UCF's lead to 27-14 just prior to halftime.

Freshman CB Joe Burnett recorded his first career interception in the fourth quarter. It marked the first time since 1997 that a true freshman tallied an interception for UCF (Damian Demps vs. NE Louisiana on Nov. 1, 1997). He added another pick with 1:08 to play in the game.

Senior WR Brandon Marshall tied a career-high with 10 receptions.
