IRVING, Texas - Conference USA announced its 2005-06 men's basketball television schedule and UCF will have two regular season league games televised nationally on CSTV. The Golden Knights contest at Memphis on Jan. 28 and the team's home game with UAB on Feb. 4 will both be aired live on the network.
The UAB contest will mark the first regular season home game to be aired nationally in school history. A year ago, the Golden Knights made a pair of national television appearances, both in the postseason. The contest against the Blazers will now start at 3 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
"We are very excited about CSTV broadcasting these games," said UCF head coach Kirk Speraw. "It will give our fans a chance to watch us play on the road and we will also have a chance to showcase our program and university with a home game that will be televised nationally."
Tip-off for the game at Memphis is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern.
UCF will be competing in C-USA for the first time in 2005-06 after moving from the Atlantic Sun. During the season, more than 30 nationally-televised games are scheduled to feature C-USA teams. CSTV will showcase 21 regular season games to a national audience. The network will also offer a regional package including all 12 schools that will be announced at a later date.
CSTV will carry early rounds of the 2006 Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., showing all four quarterfinal games live on March 9 and the semifinals on March 10. CBS will once again air the championship game on March 11.
The Golden Knights will make numerous regional television appearances during the campaign, including the Dec. 3 contest at Florida, which will be broadcast on Sun Sports.
UCF returns seven letterwinners from last season's 24-9 team that made its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Dating back to the start of the 2002-03 season, the Golden Knights have won 70 games, a mark that ranks 23rd nationally and first in the state of Florida during that span.
Season tickets are currently on sale. Call (407) 823-1000 for more information or to order tickets. The Golden Knights open the regular season at home, facing cross-town rival Rollins on Nov. 18.
