Men's Golf Tees it up at Shoal Creek Monday

Sept. 23, 2005

ORLANDO - The UCF men's golf team continues its fall tour with the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. beginning Monday. The inaugural 54-hole event will be played at the Shoal Creek Golf Club, site of two PGA Championships.

The Golden Knights will be looking to improve on last week's 13th place showing against a strong field at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, Ohio. UCF finished only two shots out of 10th place and was paced by sophomore Giwon Suh, who tied for 14th in the individual standings.

Suh will be joined by sophomores Chris Anderson and Ben Leong, as well as senior Stefan Wistorf and freshman Kyle Davis. Anderson will be playing in his first event of the season, while the remainder of the lineup is a carry over from the Toledo event.

UCF and the rest of the 15-team field will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. It marks the second consecutive week for the Golden Knights to experience competing on a golf course that has hosted major championships. Inverness was the site of four U.S. Opens, one U.S. Amateur, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Senior Open.
