ORLANDO - The UCF football team practiced for two hours in full pads Friday morning. The Golden Knights spent the first half of practice outside, including 20 minutes of work under a steady downpour of rain, before moving the last half of practice indoors to the Nicholson Fieldhouse.
Friday's workout was also the first day back for senior defensive end Paul Carrington. The Georgia native injured his neck on August 17 and missed seven days of practice before Friday's return.
"Paul was released from the neurosurgeon for full play last night," stated UCF head coach George O'Leary. Carrington wore a yellow "no-contact" jersey Friday, but O'Leary stated Carrington will be able to go through a full practice Saturday.
"We got to get used to practicing in the rain," O'Leary continued. "I don't have a problem with rain. Once there is lightning, then we need to be careful and move indoors."
With the day spent installing several parts of the game plan, O'Leary moved the team into the Nicholson Fieldhouse. Once inside, the team spent several periods on the two-minute drill.
The team returns to the practice field Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
