Football Begins Game Preparations for South Carolina

Aug. 24, 2005

ORLANDO - For the first time this season, UCF formed scout teams and began game preparations for South Carolina. With the South Carolina game just eight days away, both scout teams had a good day of practice in giving the first and second team players plenty of looks for the season opener.

With the formation of the scout teams, competition has heated up between the players to earn some of the final spots on the travel squad.

One player still missing from practice was senior defensive end Paul Carrington. The Georgia native is scheduled to be revaluated by doctors later today and could be cleared to practice with the team if all goes well. Carrington injured his neck in the first scrimmage of preseason camp last Wednesday.

Wednesday's practice lasted 14 periods as the Golden Knights donned helmets and shoulder pads. The team has Thursday off before returning to the practice field Friday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
