FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Freshman Giwon Suh shot an opening round 4-under-par 67 Monday to lead UCF as the Golden Knights carded a 5-under-par total of 279 in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. UCF is tied for second with A-Sun newcomer North Florida and trails Campbell by three shots heading into Tuesday's second round. Georgia State, Mercer and host Belmont are tied for fourth, two shots behind UCF.

North Florida's Miguel Ordonez leads the individual standings after carding a 7-under-par 64 Monday on the 6,759-yard par 71 Roper's Knob Course. Suh is tied for second with Jacksonville's Duncan Stewart. UCF senior Andreas Hoegberg rebounded from a double-bogey on the par-4 10th hole to finish the day with a 3-under-par 68 and is in a four-way tie for fourth place.

"The guys played pretty well today," UCF coach Nick Clinard said. "We've got ourselves in a position to contend for the title, but the course played easy today and likely will all week so we're going to have to go low to win this event."

UCF freshman Ben Leong shot a 1-under-par 70 and is tied for 16th, while junior Sonny Nimkhum and freshman Preston Brown shot 74 and 75, respectively and are tied for 41st and 44th.

UCF will be grouped with Campbell and North Florida Tuesday morning when the second round begins at 8:15 a.m.
