MACON, Ga. - Kacie Feaster was 4-for-6 at the plate as UCF defeated Mercer, 3-1 in the first game and 15-4 in five innings in the second game. With the wins, the Golden Knights improve to 38-22-1 on the season and 10-4 in the Atlantic Sun, while the Bears fall to 23-29 on the season and 4-10 in the A-Sun.
Feaster was 4-for-6 with three singles, one double, one walk, two RBI and one run, while Stephanie Best was 3-for-5 with two home runs, a single, five RBI, four runs and two walks. Lindsay Enders and Jennifer Tomasetti earned the wins in the circle for UCF.
UCF jumped out to the lead in the top of the third when Best and Crystle Krafft both singled to the outfield.
Jania Shinhoster ripped a double to center field scoring Ashley Van Ryn from first in the top of the sixth to give the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead over the Mercer Bears.
Kerri Ryskamp broke up Enders no hitter in Mercer's half of the sixth when she crushed a home run over the fence in right center.
UCF won game one by a score of 3-1 with Enders pitching the complete game for her 19th win of season. She gave up one run on four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts. Bryttani Lindheim led the Golden Knights at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a single, while Best was 1-for-2 with a single, an RBI, a run and two walks.
For Mercer, Meredith Weare was tagged with the loss after pitching the complete game and giving up three runs on six hits with six walks and one strikeout. Ryskamp led the Bears at the plate going 2-for-4 with a home run, a single, an RBI and a run.
The Golden Knights started the second game with a four spot on the board in the top of the first on two hits and three errors. During the first inning, Krafft launched a Jennifer Faierson pitch over the fence in right center for her ninth homer of the year.
In the second inning, UCF added seven more runs on eight hits with Shinhoster and Best both cranking two-run homers to account for four of the seven runs.
The Bears put a one spot on the board in the bottom of the second when Sarah Harding knocked a solo home run over the left field fence to make the score 11-1 in favor of the Knights.
The Black and Gold added four runs in the top of the third topped off by another Best two-run homer, her 22nd of the season.
In Mercer's half of the third, the Bears scored two runs on three hits.
Game two ended with the Golden Knights up 15-4 in the fifth inning. Tomasetti pitched all five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Feaster led the Knights at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
For Mercer in game two, Faierson had the loss after pitching two innings and giving up 11 runs on 10 hits and one walk.
The Golden Knights return the softball diamond on Wednesday when the team travels to Tampa to take on the USF Bulls. UCF returns home on Saturday, April 23 when the squad hosts Jacksonville for Senior Day. The Senior Day activities are slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. with the first pitch taking place at 2 p.m.
