DeLAND - The UCF women's golf team is in third place with a team score of 310 after the first round of play at the 2005 Atlantic Sun Women's Golf Championship Monday at the Victoria Hills Golf Course in DeLand. The Golden Knights are just four strokes out of the lead behind Georgia State (306) and Campbell (308).

Junior Ashley Grier turned in a strong opening round score of 73. Grier is one shot over par and two strokes behind first-round leader Lisbeth Meincke of Georgia State (71). Grier is one of four UCF golfers in the top 15 after the first 18 holes of play.

Grier is in second place to lead the way for UCF. Senior Livia Jakobsson is tied for 15th with a 79 (+7). She is joined in 15th place by sophomore Holly Boot and junior Jessica Trein.

The 54-hole event continues with the second round of play Tuesday. The first set of UCF golfers tee off at 9:36 a.m. Tuesday morning.
