GAINESVILLE - Juniors Tiffany Roebuck, Andrea Morrow and Astrid Claessens paced the UCF women's track and field team as the Golden Knights opened competition at the Florida Relays on Thursday.
Roebuck, who earned Atlantic Sun Performer of the Week honors on Tuesday, had her second best mark of the season in the hammer throw. She placed sixth at 55.46 meters (181 feet, 11 inches). It was the second time this spring that she surpassed the NCAA Regional qualifying standard as she broke the school record in February with a throw of 185-10.
Also in the event, freshman Kendra Howell earned a mark of 44.34m (145-6).
Making her season debut in the 3000m steeplechase, Morrow ran an 11:16.97 in the race to finish in fourth place. Classmate Michelle Westhoff was tenth at 12:52.69.
In the 1500m, Claessens tied the school record with a personal best time of 4:40.05 to place 16th. Karen Kozub came in at 4:44.88, while fellow sophomore Christina Jones had a time of 4:52.73.
The Knights' capped off the day with the 10,000m race, where freshman Allison Palmer finished 10th at 40:21.17.
Competition at the Florida Relays continues on Friday and Saturday.
