FELLSMERE - The UCF women's rowing team came up short in three of four races at the FIT Invitational on Canal 54 on Saturday morning.
The Golden Knights started the day with a heartbreaking loss to Columbia in the Varsity Eight. The UCF boat - which featured Amy Price, Kyla Smith, Caitlin Pauls, Krystina Sarff, Tanya Kleisler, Kristin Roach, Becky Meale, Mary Rosser and coxswain Kim Swift - finished two-tenths of second behind the Lions at 6:45.3.
Columbia also topped UCF in the two novice eight races, but the Knights took top honors in the Varsity Four, which consisted of Christy Collier, Erin Wiegers, Alex Guillermety, Brittney Kusner and Heather Brooks. They finished in a time of 7:43.6 ahead of both host FIT and the Lions.
The Golden Knights return to action at the Petrakis Cup in Jacksonville on March 26.
