LOS ANGLES, Calif. - The UCF women's tennis team collected its fifth consecutive victory as the Golden Knights (7-6) defeated host Loyola Marymount, 4-3, at the LMU Tennis Center on Monday afternoon.
After losing at No. 1 and winning at No. 2 doubles, the Knights freshman duo of Jennifer Carati and Anna Yakimchenkova rebounded from being down 3-0 to take an 8-4 victory at No. 3 to earn the point.
Yakimchenkova continued to roll as she defeated Patrycia Hubl, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 singles to stretch her winning streak to five matches. UCF senior co-captain Kristina Lohmos also grabbed a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 1.
The Lions (4-9) earned wins at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions, before junior co-captain Pamela Fernandez defeated Tamara Tanner, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 to clinch the victory.
"I am very proud of the way our captains have been playing," said UCF head coach Patricia Allison. "They have been spectacular in leading our team."
The Golden Knights continue their West Coast trek with a visit to No. 75 UC-Irvine on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
