Preston Brown, Ben Leong and Andreas Hoegberg each shot 1-over-par 73s Tuesday as UCF posted a 10-over-par 298 and finished 11th at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass Country Club.
Florida shot the low round of the event Tuesday with an 8-under-par 280 and claimed the tournament title by five shots over Alabama. Florida's Matt Every won medalist honors after finishing the 54-hole event at 1-under-par, one shot ahead of Augusta State's Major Manning and North Florida's Tyler Brown.
Brown was UCF's highest finisher in the event, posting a 6-over-par total to tie for 19th. He started the day at 5-over-par and made a charge on the opening nine with a 3-under-par 33 to get to 2-over, but a double bogey on his 11th hole and three consecutive bogeys later in the round pushed him out of contention.
UCF carded its lowest round of the week Tuesday, but it was not enough to keep pace as nearly every other team played its best golf of the week in the final round as well. The Golden Knights began the day in a tie for eighth.
Leong tied for 28th at 7-over-par and Hoegberg tied for 32nd at 8-over-par.
UCF returns to action at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee March 6-8.
