CORAL GABLES - The No. 10 ranked Miami women's tennis team shut out UCF, 7-0, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. UM improved to 5-2 with the win, while the Knights fell to 2-6. It was the sixth time this season that UCF lost to a ranked opponent.
The Hurricanes started off the day with a win at No. 1 doubles as the eighth ranked tandem of Audrey Banada and Megan Bradley defeated junior Pamela Fernandez and sophomore Becky Gordon, 8-0. Miami would earn the sweep despite a tough match at No. 2 doubles, where Melissa Applebaum and Caren Seenauth defeated UCF's duo of Kristina Lohmos and Kyla McNicol, 9-7.
UM continued to upend the Golden Knights in the singles competition. UCF's best chance for a point came at the No. 2 position, but Staci Stevens grabbed the 7-6 (4), 6-2 victroy over Lohmos.
The Golden Knights return to action on Tuesday when they host Jacksonville at the UCF Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
