TUSCON, Ariz. - UCF is ranked No. 24 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's Fabulous 40 pre-season poll. The Golden Knights finished the 2004 season ranked No. 25 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

The "Collegiate Baseball" Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.

UCF was 47-18 in 2004 and advanced to the regional championship game at Florida State. The Golden Knights face four teams in 2005 that appear in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper's Fabulous 40 pre-season poll. The Golden Knights play No. 22 Florida, No. 20 Notre Dame and No. 30 Florida Atlantic in Orlando, along with No. 39 Stetson.

UCF returns seven position player starters in 2005 including last year's leading hitter Dee Brown. The senior from Brooksville hit .373 with 68 RBI to pace the Golden Knight attack in 2004. In all, UCF returns 24 letterwinners from last year's team that finished with the fourth-highest single-season win total in school history.

The Golden Knights open the 2005 season Saturday, February 5 vs. Florida International at Jay Bergman Field. UCF plays 22 of its first 24 games of the season at Jay Bergman Field.
