ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's soccer team will travel to Tallahassee to take on #12 Florida State. The Golden Knights (14-3-1, 8-2-0 Atlantic Sun) take with them a four game unbeaten streak while the Seminoles (12-4-1, 5-3-1 Atlantic Coast) are coming off a loss to #1 North Carolina.
UCF leads the Atlantic Sun in shots (353), shots per game (19.61), points (145), goals (52), goals allowed (8), goals against average (0.44), shutouts (10) and corner kicks (115), is ranked second in goals per game (2.89) and assists (41) and is ranked third in assists per game (2.28).
Individually, Kendra Flock (Calgary, Alberta/Western Canada HS) is ranked second in shots (54), fourth in shots per game (3.00), and sixth in points (20), points per game (1.11), goals (9) and goals per game (0.50). Jennifer Montgomery (Colton, Calif./Colton HS) is ranked second in game-winning goals (4), sixth in assists (6), seventh in shots (45) and points (18), eighth in points per game (1.00) and ninth in shots per game (2.50) and goals (6). Allison Blagriff (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie HS) is ranked seventh in goals (8), eighth in points (17) and goals per game (0.44) and ninth in shots (42). Courtney Baines (Indialantic, Fla./Satellite HS) is ranked third in assists (8) and assists per game (0.44). Becca Eshelman (Akron, Pa./Ephrata HS) is ranked third in assists (8) and assists per game (0.44). Goalie Julie Snaman (Burke, Va./Robinson Secondary) is ranked first in goals against average (0.42), save percentage (.870), shutouts (7) and shutouts per game (0.47). Back-up goalie, Beth Harless (Hillard, Ohio/Darby HS), is ranked second in shutouts per game (0.40) and tenth in shutouts (2).
The last time that UCF and Florida State played was in the 2003 season. Florida State defeated UCF by a score of 3-0 at the UCF Soccer Field. FSU's first goal came in the first half at the 24:43 mark when Leah Gallegos kicked the ball past a diving Snaman. Montgomery and Monique Fireall (Kissimmee, Fla./Gateway HS) both tried to tie the score before going into the second half but were unsuccessful when the ball hit off the crossbar both times. The Seminoles added to their lead when Katie Beal took a free kick just over four minutes into the second half. With 25 minutes remaining in the game, Montgomery tried to cut Florida State's lead down to one only to have the shot deflected by goalie Joy McKenzie. Kristin Boyce scored FSU's final goal with just eight minutes remaining.
The UCF Golden Knights will be back in action next week when they compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament hosted by Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
