ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's soccer team is traveling to Gainesville, Fla. where they will take on the University of Florida in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, November 12 at 3 p.m. This will mark the fourth year in a row that the Golden Knights have participated in the NCAA Tournament.
In the Atlantic Sun Tournament last weekend, the Golden Knights (16-3-2) defeated Jacksonville in the second round 3-0 before tying Campbell 0-0 in the Championship Game and eventually falling 1-3 in penalty kicks. The Florida Gators (16-3-3) defeated Tennessee in the SEC Tournament Championship Game 2-1.
UCF comes into the NCAA Tournament with a seven game unbeaten streak in tact. The last time that the Golden Knights put a mark in the loss column was on October 10 when they lost to Georgia State 0-1. Since then, the Knights have defeated Stetson, Jacksonville twice, University of Miami, Troy and #12 Florida State and tied Campbell in the Atlantic Sun Championship Game. During this time, UCF has outscored (16-3) and out-shot (127-54) their opponents.
Freshman Kendra Flock leads the Golden Knights in goals (12) and points (27). Senior Allison Blagriff follows Flock with nine goals and 22 points. Junior Jennifer Montgomery leads the Knights in game-winning goals with four.
The Knights would not be where they are today if it were not for their outstanding defense led by senior JoAnna Black. Black along with junior Summer Savage and freshman Jessica Hallgren have stopped the opposing offenses from getting near the net to make junior goalkeeper Julie Snaman work. Snaman has had nine complete game shutouts and allowing only eight goals in the other nine games.
The last time that the Golden Knights and the Florida Gators met was last season in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville. The Gators defeated the Knights 3-2 in overtime.

The winner of the UCF/Florida game will take on the winner of the Florida State/Boston College game on Sunday, November 14 in Gainesville at 1 p.m.
