Lipscomb Rallies For Comeback 4-3 Win Over UCF

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nathan Sensing hit a game-winning, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Lipscomb (2-6, 1-1 A-Sun) past UCF (10-4, 1-1 A-Sun) 4-3 Saturday in game one of a doubleheader. The Golden Knights led 3-0 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Bison rallied for the comeback victory.

Chandler Rose broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a single up the middle to score Kevin Richmond. David Mann followed with a RBI-double down the left field line to plate Rose, giving UCF a 2-0 lead. Both RBI came with two out in the Golden Knight fifth.

Marshall Bernhard added a key insurance run with a RBI-groundout in the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0.

With two outs in the sixth, a costly error by Jon Cooper opened the door for Lipscomb to get back into the game. The Bison scored three unearned runs to even the game at three.

The three-run frame wasted an outstanding pitching performance by Kyle Bono. Bono retired the first 10 batters of the game and ended the contest with no earned runs on two hits with a career-high eight strikeouts.

Sensing ended the contest in the seventh in the first at bat of the inning with the solo home run to left field to lift Lipscomb to the win.

Game Notes: Clay Timpner extended his hitting streak to 12 games and Dee Brown extended his hitting streak to nine games.
