MACON, Ga. - UCF freshman left fielder Dee Brown was named the Atlantic Sun Baseball Player-of-the-Week by the league office on Monday afternoon after driving in 10 runs in four games. Brown, a freshman two-sport athlete at UCF (also plays football) received the honor for the second time in the past three weeks.
Brown batted .538 on the week as the Golden Knights went 3-1 on the week, including a three-game A-Sun Series sweep of Belmont. Brown drove in 10 runs on the week, as he registered three RBI in three of the four games on the week. Brown also scored three runs as he factored in on 48% of UCF's runs for the week. He went 6-11 in the Belmont series including seven RBI and a pair of doubles. Of his seven hits on the week, three were doubles. Brown also added a pair of sacrifice flies while striking out just two times in 13 at bats.
Brown is batting .408 on the season, leading all freshmen in the Atlantic Sun. Brown is also the team-leader with nine doubles and 35 RBI. He is currently riding a 12 game hitting streak as the Golden Knights have won six of their last seven games, including six straight A-Sun contests as they stand in second place in the conference.
The Golden Knights (25-15, 13-2 A-Sun) return to action this coming weekend when they travel to Jacksonville for a key three-game A-Sun Series at Jacksonville.
