Big Inning Kills Golden Knights, UL-Lafayette Takes Series Opener 6-4

LAFAYETTE, La. -- UCF gave up five runs in the fourth inning allowing Louisiana-Lafayette a chance to rally and take a 6-4 lead and eventually the game in the series opener of a three-game series at Tigue Moore Field Friday night.

UCF (1-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. David Mann walked to lead off the game. Ty Hanson reached first on a bunt single. Mike Myers drove home Mann with a single up the middle. After a Jeremy Frost single to load the bases, Blaine Schulte hit into a 4-6-3 double play to score Hanson. Adam Miller singled home Myers to cap the scoring.

The Ragin Cajuns (3-1) cut the lead to 3-1 as Chase Lambin smashed a solo home run to right field.

The Golden Knights would add a run in the second inning as Clay Timpner hit the first home run of his collegiate career, a solo shot to right field. The Cajuns pitching staff would not allow another run and only one hit over the next seven inning.
