Steven Casey enters his first season with the Golden Knight women[apos]s rowing program. He will serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the team.
Casey comes to Orlando after three years at the University of California, San Diego. For the first two years, he worked as an assistant coach with the novice men[apos]s team before guiding UCSD[apos]s novice women.
In addition to his recruiting and day-to-day duties with the Tritons, Casey also founded the NIKE Rowing Camps at UCSD and served as director for three seasons.
Prior to his tenure at UC-San Diego, he worked with current Syracuse head coach Dave Reischman at Oregon State as a graduate assistant with the men[apos]s crew. He began his coaching career at the Sammamish Rowing Association in Bellevue, Wash., where he coached the novice women.
Casey holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in psychology with a minor in biology from the University of San Diego, where he rowed from 1996-98. As a member of the USD Varsity 4+ crew, he won a silver medal at the 1996 National Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his collegiate rowing career at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif., where he was coached by Dave Grant.
