Stephen Shapiro is in his fourth season with the Golden Knights softball program. His responsibilities include coaching the outfield, recruiting and campus visit coordination and video evaluation.
In the first three seasons of the program, Shapiro coached center fielder Jania Shinhoster to Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors every season. Shinhoster was also selected to the 2002 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-South Region Team. Under Shapiro[apos]s guidance, Cici Alvarez was named to the A-Sun All-Conference Team and All-Freshman team in 2004. He also guided former Golden Knight right fielder Danielle Cummings to A-Sun All-Freshman recognition in 2002.
Prior to accepting his position with UCF softball, Shapiro interned for a year and a half in the UCF sports marketing office. It was during that time that he obtained his bachelor[apos]s degree in advertising and public relations. In December of 2002, he also earned his master[apos]s in management at UCF.
An avid sports fan, Shapiro played both baseball and football at Taravella High School in Coral Springs, Fla. His older brother Daniel played football and baseball at Kentucky State.
Shapiro plans to become an athletics administrator.
