Nick Smith joined the UCF Athletics staff in August 2021 as associate athletics director for the ChargeOn Fund. In that role he oversees the Shareholders Society major gift program.
Smith came to UCF after spending the previous five years at Miami (Ohio) University working in multiple roles, including assistant director for major gifts for two years before being elevated to assistant athletics director for major gifts in 2018.
Over his five years at Miami, Smith was part of the athletic development team that successfully completed and closed $82.5 million for the Graduating Champions campaign, the first athletics-specific campaign in institution history. He was one of the most active members of both the athletic development and University Advancement staffs, directly raising nearly $10 million, including four seven-figure gifts.
During his time as assistant athletic director for major gifts, the Miami Athletic Fund team doubled the number of major gifts closed. He also led the athletic development team through the reconfiguration and strategy implementation of major gift portfolios and creation of prospect pipeline.
In addition, Smith served as the development sport liaison for nine sports, including football.
A 2014 Miami graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance, the Columbus, Ohio, native worked with Miami’s athletic development office throughout his entire undergraduate career. Smith earned his Master's in Sports Administration and MBA from Ohio University in 2016.
Smith and his wife Bryn reside in Winter Springs.
