Head coach Rich Wallace annouced Morgan DePew as his program's director of baseball operations in the summer of 2023. DePew comes to Orlando after making stops as an assitant coach at Jacksonville, St. Johns River State, Saint Leo, and Lee University.
During DePew's first season at UCF in 2024, he helped the Knights compile a 37-21 overall record en route to earning the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017 with a trip to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. He also helped the Black and Gold to a 14-15 league record in UCF's first season of competition in the Big 12 Conference by winning six Big 12 series.
Prior to coming to UCF, DePew was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at St. Johns River State College in Palatka, Florida, for three seasons (2021-2023). During his time in Palatka, he helped the Vikings compile a combined a 103-69 record, which included a 46-19 clip in 2023, and a trip to the 2023 NJCAA DII Baseball World Series.
DePew previously spent two years as a volunteer assistant at Jacksonville University (2019 and 2020) where he helped the Dolphins to a 32-27 record in 2019 and a 9-9 mark during the Covid-shortened 2020 campaign. Prior to his time at Jacksonville, he served as the outfield coach at Saint Leo University for the 2018 season in Saint Leo, Florida, where he also assisted with hitting and base running.
Before his time in Sunshine State, DePew spent the summer of 2017 as an assistant coach with the La Crosse Loggers of the Northwoods League and the 2016 summer as an assistant for the Dubois Country Bombers in 2016. DePew held his first collegiate coaching position as a graduate assistant at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, in 2017.
A four-year collegiate athlete, DePew played two years at Illinois Central College before finishing his college career at Saint Joseph’s College.
DePew earned a bachelor’s in sport management from Saint Joseph’s in 2016 and an MBA from Lee University in 2017.
