Major Howe, with 25 years of broadcast and live event experience on his resume, joined the UCF Athletics staff in September 2021 as associate athletics director for production.
While averaging more than 100 events a year as a live producer, director or associate director on the production side, he has been involved in another 400-500 events as a broadcast consultant and/or event crewer providing remote freelance crews to numerous broadcast partners since the late 1990s.
While most of his recent broadcast career has been working within the collegiate sports realm, he also has been involved with NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA, LPGA, Kentucky Derby and Olympics events.
Most recently, Howe was a remote director with ESPN. He was a part of the ESPN production group that had a unique partnership with many collegiate schools to assist them with ESPN+ broadcast initiatives across many platforms. This program helped train, mentor and develop students and technicians within the collegiate broadcast departments to provide content on ESPN+, while overseeing on-air quality, graphic integration, technical integration and announcer training. During this timeframe, he was assigned to many Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference broadcasts as a producer or director working on site within their respective control rooms. When not producing or directing specific events, he was assigned to oversee the Big 12, American, Southern, Atlantic Sun, Sun Belt and Atlantic 10 conferences.
A native of Orlando, Major is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. He has lived in Windermere since 1995 with his wife Tracy and has one daughter, Avery.
