Ken Landis has been with the UCF Athletics Strategic Communications department since January of 2019 and has been an Associate Director since August 2022. He began his career as a Communications Assistant before he was promoted to Assistant Director in June of 2021. Landis handles the day-to-day communications responsibilities for the UCF men's basketball team after previously serving as the primary contact for the men's soccer, softball and men's and women's tennis teams. Additionally, he currently oversees the department's student intern program.
Landis completed his second season with the men's basketball program with the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign. The Knights reached the National Invitation Tournament in both of his first two seasons with the team, including earning the right to host a first round game in March 2024.
In addition to working closely with National College Basketball Hall of Famer Johnny Dawkins and staff, Landis raised the level of communications efforts for the men's basketball program to prepare for UCF's rise to the Big 12 Conference. Landis instituted more media availabilities for Dawkins and his players as well as revamping the program's game notes, record book and media guide.
In his five years as an SID with the Knights, Landis has managed the publicity efforts for teams that have won a combined six conference championships and four of the five programs he has worked with have advanced to play in the Round of 16 in either the NCAA Tournament or NIT. He has hosted an NIT first round game in the spring of 2024, an NCAA softball regional in the spring of 2022 and has assisted in hosting multiple NCAA Tennis Championships. He has helped UCF's nationally-ranked softball and men's soccer programs achieve top-25 status in social media interactions and led the state of Florida in men's soccer interactions in 2020 and 2021.
A former UCF student, Landis was a broadcasting intern with UCF Athletics before joining the Strategic Communications department, broadcasting numerous baseball and volleyball contests. The Boca Raton, Florida, native graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Sports Business Management in December of 2018.
Prior to his time as an employee and intern with the Knights, Landis was a broadcast and journalism intern for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, a summer collegiate baseball league, in the summer of 2018. He gained experience as an intern with the Florida Fire Frogs, a now defunct High-A minor league team, where he assisted in running the team's social media, marketing efforts and radio broadcasts for the team's inaugural season in 2017. While with the Fire Frogs, he also had a marketing internship with Chick-fil-A where he was in charge of multiple tasks, but also got the chance to suit up in the cow costume multiple times.
