Kat Jones re-joined the UCF Athletics Association in August 2023 to serve as the assistant athletics director of student-athlete administration and NIL.
Prior to returning to her alma mater, she spent two years at the University of Tennessee as the Director of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL).
Her position was introduced to manage NIL education, monitoring and support efforts for Tennessee’s 20 varsity sport programs and more than 500 student-athletes.
In her first stint with UCF Athletics from 2018-2021, Jones worked as an assistant director of compliance. As UCF was preparing for the introduction of NIL legislation, Jones co-chaired the athletic university’s NIL Working Group to coordinate a campus-wide approach and develop an educational plan for student-athletes, coaches and staff.
As part of her more traditional compliance responsibilities at UCF, she served as the department’s primary contact for six varsity sports programs, assisted with the agent registration and approval process, served as liaison to the campus financial aid and international services offices and administered National Letter of Intent processing for all sports.
Jones occupied the roles of compliance legal intern and compliance assistant for one year at UCF before ascending to her assistant director role. In those capacities, she executed a statewide compliance summit that hosted participants from 12 universities throughout the state and also generated prospective student-athlete NCAA initial eligibility evaluations for coaches and staff.
Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing from UCF. She completed her juris doctorate degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 2019.
