Justin Maullin begins his fifth season as an assistant coach. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Golden Knights men[apos]s soccer program.
Serving as head coach Bob Winch[apos]s right-hand man, he coordinates the extensive logistics of the Golden Knights[apos] road trips, serves as the recruiting coordinator and is responsible for assembling game schedules for future seasons.Performing his duties as recruiting coordinator has taken Maullin all over the U.S. and the world. The Knights recruit extensively in the state of Florida, as well as the Southeastern U.S. Maullin also has spent extensive time in Europe, specifically in the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Maullin, a 28-year old native of Johannesburg, South Africa, came to the U.S. in 1993. He attended William Carey College in Gulfport, Miss., where he graduated in 1997 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in management and marketing. He was chosen as Mr. William Carey College in 1996 and 1997, the same two years he served as student body president. Maullin also made the list of Who[apos]s Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1995.
He played for the Crusaders for four years, serving as the team captain and winning NAIA Academic All-America Honors. He stepped in as an assistant coach for William Carey from 1997-99 and also served as the recruiting coordinator. During that time, he helped guide the Crusaders to back-to-back NAIA Final Four appearances. He was responsible for domestic and international recruiting efforts, as well as coordinating practice and tournament schedules, handling travel plans and the annual team budget.
Maullin played junior professional soccer as an apprentice in South Africa and won three national championships. In the U.S. Maullin played for the New Orleans Gamblers of the A-League in 1993, the semi-pro Cocoa Expos from 1995-1997, the Mississippi Beach Kings of the indoor pro league from 1997-1998, and with the Orlando Kraze of the Premier Development League from 1999-2001.
During the off-season he assists Bob Winch with the running of the Florida Soccer Training Center, which is based on the campus of UCF.
Maullin, who received his master[apos]s degree in business administration from UCF in December 2001, holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Coaching Diploma. He resides in Orlando.
