Juanita Hitt is in her fifth season as an assistant coach on the Golden Knights staff. During her time in Orlando, UCF has experienced great success, participating in two NCAA Championships and claiming two conference titles.
At UCF, Hitt assists with the Golden Knights[apos] recruiting efforts and opponent scouting. Hitt is the program[apos]s primary recruiter in Florida. She works directly with the team[apos]s liberos on defensive techniques. She serves as the team[apos]s liaison to community service programs. Following the 2004 season, the volleyball squad was honored by UCF for its work in the community.
Hitt came to UCF after spending three years at Jacksonville University as both a student-athlete and assistant coach.
A standout for the Dolphins from 1999-2000, she ranked 16th nationally in service aces in 2000, while also ranking second in the Atlantic Sun in that category. In the classroom, Hitt was twice named to the Dean[apos]s List at JU. After her playing days were over, she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2001 season.
Prior to her career at Jacksonville, Hitt played for two seasons at the University of Montevallo in Alabama. As a freshman, she was named to the All-Gulf South Conference Newcomer Team. Hitt finished her career among the school[apos]s all-time leaders in total attempts, plus single-match hitting percentage and single-match total attacks.
In addition to her coaching stint at Jacksonville, she has also been the head coach of the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association 18-and-under team. Hitt has also spent two summers as a coach at the University of Florida summer camps.
Along with her husband, Michael, she resides in Orlando.
