John Ellis is in his first season as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with responsibility for Women[apos]s Basketball, Volleyball, Cross Country, Throwers and Vault athletes. In addition, he oversees the strength and conditioning program for the UCF Spirit Team and assists with the strength and conditioning duties of the Football program.
Prior to becoming a full time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at UCF, Ellis worked two seasons in the department on a part time basis with the Cross Country and Spirit Teams.
Originally from the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Ellis is a former Track and Field Athlete and enjoyed a decade of direct work in the fitness industry prior to moving into strength and conditioning. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Fitness from the University of Central Florida and holds numerous certifications and licenses.
Ellis is a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa); certified USA Weightlifting Level 1; and a Licensed Massage Therapist. He is also CPR/AED certified.
