Jim Furlong joined the UCF Athletics Staff in August 2019. He currently serves as the Assistant AD for Championship Resources, Major Gifts.
Prior to joining UCF, Furlong served as the Director of Campaigns for Blazer Boosters at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from February 2016 to July 2019. In his role, Furlong was responsible for developing and implementing strategies for revenue generation for athletics facilities and capital projects. During his time, Blazer Boosters surpassed $5 million cash received for the fourth consecutive year in 2018, which included an all-time high of $9.59 million in the 2017 giving year, in part due to the largest naming rights agreement ever for UAB Athletics.
Furlong started at UAB after working at Hofstra University from September 2013 to February 2016. He served as the Director of Development for the Hofstra Athletics Pride Club where he assisted in major gift and annual fund efforts. He also served as the athletics liaison to university development along with working with the Pride Club Board of Directors.
From January 2012 to August 2013, Furlong worked with the Nittany Lion Club at Penn State University where he served as a development assistant. He worked specifically with the Varsity `S' Club branch of the fundraising arm for Penn State Athletics focusing on sport specific giving and connecting with former student-athletes. Furlong also worked as an assistant with the Notre Dame Monogram Club aiding in annual membership dues and special events.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Furlong graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. While completing his undergraduate degree, he served as a student manager for the football program. He also completed the one-year MBA program at Notre Dame, graduating in 2011.
