Jennifer Vander Logt enters her sixth season as an assistant coach with the women[apos]s track and field team. In addition to assisting in recruiting, she is also responsible for coaching the throwers. During her time at UCF, she has coached eight conference champions and 23 all-conference honorees. Her athletes own eight of the top 12 performances all-time at UCF including all three in the hammer throw. Three have qualified for NCAA Regional competition.
Last season under Vander Logt[apos]s guidance, Tiffany Roebuck broke the school record in the 20lb weight and improved her previous record the hammer throw. She also earned all-conference recognition in the 20lb weight. Roebuck also earned regional qualifying mark in the hammer.
In 2005, Roebuck broke the school record in both the shot put and hammer throw and won the Atlantic Sun titles in the shot put, hammer and discus en route to being named the conference[apos]s outstanding performer of the year. Her classmate Rian Thomas captured the silver medal in the hammer. Roebuck also earned regional qualifying marks in the shot put, hammer and discus.
Both Roebuck and Thomas earned the regional qualifying standard in the hammer during the 2004 season. Roebuck took home the A-Sun title in the event and also grabbed the bronze medal in the shot put. Thomas, meanwhile, was a silver medalist in the hammer.Vander Logt is familiar with success. As a member of the track and field team at Indiana University in Bloomington, she competed at the NCAA Indoor Championship four times and the NCAA Outdoor Championship three times. She was a two-time Big Ten Champion in the shot put (53-7) and holds the IU records for the hammer throw, the 20-lb. weights and the indoor shot put. Vander Logt was a two-time All-American in the indoor shot put during both the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Her individual performances helped the team win two outdoor and one indoor conference championship.
For her efforts, she received recognition from the State of Indiana General Assembly in February 2000.
Vander Logt also enjoyed success at St. Joseph-Ogden High School where she was a five-time Illinois state champion. During her senior year, she was named the Illinois High School Track and Field Athlete of the Year. She still owns the state high school record in the discus.
Vander Logt resides in Oviedo with her husband, Jeff and their son, Payton. They are expecting their second child in February.
