James Diaz joined UCF’s sports performance team in June 2024. He primarily works with the softball and women's soccer programs.
Before arriving in Orlando, Diaz spent three years at UNC-Greensboro as a strength and conditioning coach for the men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and men’s and women’s golf programs.
From 2018-21, he served as the director of basketball athletic performance at Arkansas State University. In addition to his duties with the men’s basketball program, he worked closely with the men’s golf team. Diaz got his start in college athletics at the University of South Florida as an athletic performance intern and worked his way up in his two years in Tampa to strength and conditioning assistant.
Diaz earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation and sport management from Florida International University before going on to earn his master’s degree in physical education from the University of South Florida.
