Heather Brooks Franklin is in her fouth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the UCF rowing program.
Franklin graduated cum laude from UCF in 2007 with a degree in physical education and a minor in coaching. She spent four seasons (2002-06) as a coxswain with the Knight, earing CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors following her final season. She was a member of the program’s first nationally ranked boat the V4+ in 2004.
Following her time at UCF, she coxed and raced with the Orlando Rowing Club (ORC) from 2009-12. She also served as the ORC’s boathouse director and general administrator for two years.
Franklin and her husband, Ed, welcomed their first child in August 2016. She spends her free time as a volunteer with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, visiting local nursing homes.
